Fix those window issues while you live in your home, and enjoy the view!
Too many people fix windows in order to list the home to sell, then wish they had lived there with things looking that good.
We often don’t notice our windows until they are not looking or functioning the way we want them to. Maybe you raise the window to let in some nice fresh air in the cooler months, and the window won’t stay up. Let’s hope it doesn’t fall down on your or some little person’s fingers! Or sometimes the window won’t latch and lock properly, so you either can’t sleep well, or figure out how to “rig” it closed. They can be hard to operate. And we haven’t even gotten to glass issues yet! Windows have a surprising number of parts and issues that can develop over time, and need repairs. Sometimes it’s not even the window’s fault. When a house settles, the window frame can become out of square so the window won’t close properly or even can develop a crack.
No Window Repair Job Is Too Small
You may notice that many of the larger window repair companies don’t like a lot of these small jobs. Windows operate by means of what are called “balancers.” There are lots of different types and sizes, and no company truck carries them around with them. Right away, this requires two trips for what may not be a very big ticket job, so many companies won’t even repair the balancers. There’s not a lot of money for the potential aggravation of an extra trip or two. Our philosophy is that if we take care of little issues when a customer needs them done, they will use us again later, or refer us because we are willing to develop the customer relationship even when there is not a lot of money involved.
Fogging and breakage are the two window issues that have more urgency. That’s when customers start thinking that they really do need or want to do something about the glass in the window. We often repair fogged windows just to enjoy the views better and keep the appearance of the house and the neighborhood looking their best. These are not nearly as expensive as many people think. Higher performing energy efficient glass is more expensive to replace, but not as expensive as entire window replacement.
